To explore the pathogenesis, outcome and treatment principles of malignant tumor based on the theory of latent oncotoxin
Malignant tumor is an important cause of human death
and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) uses the theory of "latent oncotoxin" to describe its etiology and pathogenesis. Based on the deficiency of vital-qi
pathogenic oncotoxin
a kind of latent and evil substance
accumulates over time. Oncotoxin is not only a pathological product
but also a pathogenic factor. According to its characteristics
it can be divided into yang toxin and yin toxin. Based on the theory of "latent oncotoxin"
it is considered that latent pathogens from the interior and exterior of the body will become toxin for a long time; and initially it is dormant and hidden as it is generated
which is harmful to the vital qi; remanent toxins may lurk and lead to relapses. The dynamic struggle between the latent and evil substance and vital qi is manifested in the following aspects: in the early stage of cancer
vital qi is still able to suppress evil; as the disease progresses
the power balance is broken and evil starts to gain the upper hand; in the terminal stage
evil prevails eventually. The therapeutic principles and methods include: First
eliminating pathogenic factors to calm vital qi. To do so
it is needed to clear away heat and toxic materials due to yang toxicity and eliminate phlegm and remove blood stasis due to yin toxicity. Second
nourishing vital qi so that the accumulated toxins are cleared naturally. This includes fortifying the spleen and stomach
which can guarantee smooth transportation and transformation
